Aleria:
Cette ville aurait été fondée par les grecs vers 565 av J-C. Elle fut au centre de nombreux affrontements entre Etrusques, Carthaginois et Phocéens. Tandis que Marius fonda Mariana au nord, Sylla son sempiternel rival, après avoir soumis les habitants de la côte, créa la nouvelle Aléria. Au XV siècle, Aléria devint génoise, ces derniers la fortifiant pour en faire un véritable arsenal. Aussi, malgré ces précautions, la forteresse (le fort Matra) ne résista pas à l'insurrection des révolutionnaires corses. Logé dans le fort Matra, le musée rassemble les vestiges les plus éloquents trouvés sur le site (entre autres amphores, sculptures). Ce musée Jérôme Carcopino, porte le nom du grand latiniste d'origine corse. L'Eglise San Marcello qui date du XIX siècle, jouxte le musée. Sa nef a été probablement édifiée au XII siècle. L'étang d'Urbino, situé au sud d'Aléria, moins profond que celui de Diana, recèle de nombreux échassiers, hérons cendrés et aigrettes par exemple, y passent l'hiver. Enfin, au sud de l'étang se trouve un site superbe et protégé, en fait une réserve créee en 1951.Hotels with best rate guarantee
